DetailsIn our lives the Hamsa hand has been a prevelant symbol that we have kept around our house.
Hamas is an Arabic word that literally means "five", but also "the five fingers of the hand". It is a symbol that dates back to Mesopotamian times and is common throughout the Middle East and North Africa and used as a symbol of good luck, blessings and protection.
Our version of the Hamsa Hand is made from reclaimed wood. Each board is selected for the character of its grain and texture, and then artfully hand cut and sanded. we skillfully assemble and finish it with varnish to protect and highlight the wood tones.
As with all our wood good pieces, they are built with love and made to last.
This Hamsa Hand measures 18" wide x 21" tall
It comes with a heavy wire on the back, and can be hung with fingers facing up or down.

The Hamsa is everything I wanted, and looks beautiful in person. It took a while to arrive because the shop was swamped with holiday orders before Christmas, yet my communication with Alma was prompt, I understood that many others who had placed their orders before me were eager for their gifts, so I was just looking forward to when my Hamsa would arrive since it was a gift to myself, to add to my personal collection of things that bring my heart joy. Once it had been crafted and shipped, it came in two days, so ultimately, I got it 12 days before the projected date of arrival. The packaging was done with care and I really appreciated the pretty card with a hand written message of thanks. I HIGHLY recommend this shop, Peter and Alma produce genuine objects of art.
